SINOVAC's Anflu Influenza Vaccine Passes WHO Prequalification
On November 02, 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that Anflu, a trivalent split-virion influenza vaccine manufactured by SINOVAC, was prequalified. Anflu is the fourth SINOVAC vaccine prequalified by WHO, following the Hepatitis A Vaccine (Human Diploid Cell), Inactivated, the Poliomyelitis Vaccine (Vero Cell), Inactivated, Sabin Strains, and the Varicella Vaccine, Live. The prequalified presentation is 0.5 mL single-dose vial, and is indicated for people aged 6 months and older.

Over the past 20 years, SINOVAC has continued to develop influenza vaccines, refine its manufacturing processes, and study the use of its vaccines in different populations. The company has supplied more than 150 million doses of its seasonal influenza vaccines, including both trivalent influenza vaccine and quadrivalent influenza vaccine, to nearly 20 countries and regions. Its seasonal influenza vaccines were the only mainland China–manufactured vaccines supplied to Hong Kong and Macao.
On the 20th anniversary of its launch in China, the WHO Prequalification makes Anflu eligible for procurement by United Nations (UN) agencies and positions it to support influenza prevention and control in more countries and regions. It also extends SINOVAC's portfolio of WHO-prequalified vaccines to include a seasonal influenza vaccine.
UN agencies rely on WHO prequalification to assess vaccines for procurement. WHO evaluates the vaccine's quality, safety, and efficacy, as well as the manufacturer's quality management system. Prequalification can also help countries assess vaccines for their own public procurement programs, supporting wider international access.
